Billing and cancelling
One charge a year per vault, through Stripe. Everything here is done in the portal, without writing to anyone.
The free trial
Your account's first vault can start with a 30-day free trial instead of a payment: "Start a 30-day free trial" when you create it. No card is asked for. One trial per account.
- During the trial the vault is like any other, with a storage limit of 100 MB instead of 1 GB. The dashboard shows the day the trial ends.
- To keep the vault, choose "Add a card" on the dashboard before that day. The first year is charged when the trial ends, and the vault keeps running with everything in it.
- To pay sooner, for example to have the 1 GB limit, choose "Pay now and end the trial". The first year is charged at once and starts that day; the rest of the trial is given up.
- Three days before the end you get an email with the date.
- Without a card the vault stops when the trial ends, and the 30 days below begin: download the data or subscribe in that time.
Storage
Each vault has 1 GB of storage, 100 MB during the free trial. It counts everything in the vault's data directory: the database, attachments, Sends and the website icons. The dashboard shows how much is used. When a vault is full, saving an item or an attachment fails with an error in the app, and nothing already stored is lost. To make room, empty the trash and remove attachments and Sends you no longer need.
Card, invoices and receipts
The billing button in the portal opens Stripe's customer portal. There you change the card and find every invoice and receipt. Libreyard does not see or store your card number.
Each vault has its own subscription, which renews each year on the date shown on its card on your dashboard. Stripe sends a reminder before it does. Cancelling or stopping one vault does not touch another.
A failed payment
- You get an email at each failed attempt, with a link to update the card.
- The dashboard shows a banner. Your vault keeps running while Stripe retries.
- If Stripe gives up, the subscription ends and the vault is stopped. The 30 days of grace below start then.
Cancel
"Cancel" in the portal explains what will happen and offers the data download first. Then:
- The subscription will not renew. Your vault keeps running until the end of the year you paid for, or of the free trial.
- You get an email confirming it.
- You can undo the cancellation in the portal at any time before that date.
After the subscription ends
| When | What happens | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| The day it ends | The vault is stopped. Clients cannot sync. You get an email with the deletion date and the download link. | Download data. Subscribe again. Delete now. |
| The next 30 days | The data is kept, untouched. | The same. |
| After 30 days | The data directory is deleted. You get an email confirming it. | Sign up again with an empty vault. The old name is held back for 90 days. |
While the vault is stopped, each client still has its offline copy, so passwords can be read but not changed.
Subscribe again
Within the 30 days, "Subscribe again" in the portal takes you to Stripe Checkout. When the payment is confirmed the vault starts again with its data as it was.
Stopping or deleting sooner
Each of these asks for your password and a fresh code, and for a typed confirmation.
- Uninstall now. Ends the subscription at once and stops the vault. The data is kept for 30 days, as above.
- Delete now. For a stopped vault: deletes the data directory at once instead of at the end of the 30 days.
- Close account. Ends every subscription, deletes every vault and removes your portal account, at once. Stripe keeps the payment records that tax law requires.
None of these gives a refund by itself. See the refund policy.
A vault you did not pay for
If you create a vault and do not pay for it, you get one reminder after a day. After 7 days the vault is removed and its name is free again; your account stays. You can also remove it yourself from the dashboard.
