Importing from another password manager

The Bitwarden clients have an import tool that reads the export formats of most password managers. Libreyard adds nothing to it and has built nothing of its own.

Steps

  1. Export from the old manager. Use its own export function. Bitwarden's help lists the format to choose for each product.
  2. Log in to your Libreyard vault in the web vault at https://NAME.libreyard.app, or in the desktop app or browser extension set to your server.
  3. Import. In the web vault this is under Tools, "Import data". Choose the format and the file.
  4. Check a few items, including one with an attachment or a one-time-code secret if you use them.
  5. Delete the export file. Most export formats are not encrypted. Empty the bin as well.

Bitwarden's guide: Import data to your vault. It has a page for each source.

From Bitwarden's own cloud

Export from the Bitwarden web vault as JSON, then import that file into your Libreyard vault with the format "Bitwarden (json)". Items in an organisation are exported separately from your personal vault, from the organisation's own export.

What an import may not carry

This depends on the source and the format, not on Libreyard. File attachments, shared folders and item history are the usual gaps. Check Bitwarden's page for your source before you delete anything at the old manager.

The import is done by your client, which encrypts each item before sending it. Libreyard does not see the export file or its contents.
